Cairns, Bayard Snowden, 1875-1934



Bayard Snowden Cairns, studied for three years at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He became one of the most accomplished architects in Memphis at the turn of the 20th century. He designed the Crisscross Lodge, Germantown, TN; St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral; Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal Church; the Chisca and Tennessee hotels; the Shrine Building and Memphis Tech High School all in Memphis.

He married Belle Whitefield James Willis in 1932.
