Reverend David Pise was on the supreme council of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Confederate States, a member and secretary of the board of trustees of The University of the South at its founding and one of the founders of Delta Upsilon Fraternity at Williams College in Massachusetts in 1834. He was born on September 29, 1815 in Belchertown, Massachusetts and died on August 19, 1894 in Cincinatti, Ohio.
